About me - my story
I met my husband the old fashioned way — across a table, at a wedding, surrounded by friends and a room full of single people.
That was 26 years ago, and it felt easy, genuine, and real.
Today, it’s a very different scene. So many friends tell me how exhausting the world of swiping has become - a merry go round of superficial chats and ghosted connections.
It’s no wonder so many people long for something better.
The idea for Across the Table came from an article I read about the growing popularity of supper clubs for singles in London. It sparked a thought: why shouldn’t people here in Hampshire have the same chance? To slow down, to step away from screens, and to connect with others face to face - the way it used to be.
That’s why I created Across the Table. It’s a space for meaningful conversations, shared stories, and moments that matter. No pressure, no awkward setups… just good company, great food, and the chance to connect in a way that feels refreshingly human.
